Plan in one currency

Our planner uses euros for comparison; it does not convert currencies. Albania’s currency is the lek (ALL). Check an up-to-date exchange rate and your bank’s charges before converting money.

Have a payment backup

Ask accommodation and activity providers which payment methods they accept. Carry a sensible amount of local cash and a backup card, rather than assuming every small purchase can be paid by card. Review any ATM fees and currency-conversion offer before accepting it.

Budget the whole trip

Count accommodation by nights and food by days. Include transfers, activities, luggage charges and a contingency. Flights, insurance and major shopping are outside our default estimate. Replace the example values with prices for your dates before making a booking decision.
