Start with the bazaar
Use the Old Bazaar as your first point of reference. Browse the lanes before choosing which shops to return to, and ask about an object’s materials and maker if you are buying a craft piece. Keep a small bag for purchases so your hands remain free on the slopes.
Give the castle a separate visit
The castle and its valley views deserve their own part of the day. Check the current ticket, museum access and opening arrangements before heading up. A sensible sequence is castle first, a meal afterwards, then a shorter old-town walk; it avoids turning every stop into another uphill journey.
Choose one historic house
Skënduli House and the Ethnographic Museum offer ways to explore the city’s domestic architecture. Choose a visit that interests you and confirm the arrangements directly. A house visit and a castle visit tell different stories; you do not need to collect every museum in one afternoon.
Book for the actual approach
Before choosing an old-town room, ask about steps, luggage access and the closest vehicle drop-off. A map pin cannot show how steep the final walk feels with a suitcase. Wear shoes with grip, especially when stone surfaces are wet. For a gentler visit, separate the upper-town sights across two days.
